What
is freeze-drying, and why would I want my wedding bouquet or
other special flowers to be freeze-dried? |
 |
Freeze-drying
is the removal of water by means of a vacuum. Because the flower
(or other object) is frozen during the process, shrinkage is
minimized or eliminated all together. The result is near perfect
preservation.
As for the second part the question, the primary reason to freeze-dry
flowers such as a wedding bouquet, is to capture and preserve
the beauty and essence of a precious memory... |

 |
Is
freeze-drying expensive? |
 |
Not
really. When you consider you will enjoy your freeze-dried treasure
for 20 years or more, freeze-drying becomes extremely affordable.
Imagine your wedding bouquet in a beautiful domed frame reminding
you of the romance and love expressed on your wedding day. When
you consider what you get and for how long, you'll enjoy it.
It's one of the best ways to preserve a memory or a special
moment in time. |

What
kind of equipment is necessary to freeze-dry? |
 |
Freeze-drying
depends on the use of a special freeze-drying machine. The cost
of these machines vary. Roses and... uses a high-tech,
cutting edge machine to ensure quality. |

How
long do freeze-dried flowers last? |
 |
Roses
and... knows how important your treasure is you, so we
go to great lengths to ensure that your floral treasure will
last for years to come. No one can promise that they will last
forever - forever is a long time. However, when protected from
humidity, sunlight, insects, freeze-dried botanicals from Roses
and... will last for years and years. |

How
do I make sure that my wedding bouquet or other flowers are
freeze-dried by Roses and... ? |
 |
Let
us know in advance of the event. It is a good idea to pre-order
everything well in advance if possible. The main thing is
to contact us now with your floral
and freeze-drying needs so we can give you what you will need.

Arrange
in advance to have your flowers delivered to Roses and...
as soon after the wedding or special event as possible.
At Roses and..., we believe that the fresher the
flowers are, the greater the success for preserving them.
Before the delivery, keep the flowers cool,
but not frozen. An ice chest works well for transporting.
Line the bottom of the chest with ice or ice packs and cover
with a plastic bag and towel. Place the flowers upon the towel,
yet do not allow them to become wet or float on the water.
If
an ice chest is not possible, place the flowers loosely in
a plastic bag and blow air into it. Close the bag tightly
and place in a refrigerator. Because bruising causes the flowers
to brown, delicate handling can help minimize the damage to
the flowers. |
